Alexandria, Louisiana – August 31, 2018 –
Since 2014, The Alexandria Museum of Art has been a part of the VA Hospital's program for veterans dealing with PTSD called Expressive Therapy. AMoA is excited to announce that this September AMoA will also be working with a special Expressive Therapy group especially for women. During these sessions, Museum Educator and teaching artist, Cindy Blair facilitates hands on art activities that aid in reducing stress and anxiety. In the words of one veteran, "It helps me mellow out." The veterans in these groups also form a sense of community and support that comes when people create together. We are grateful to be able to extend this service to those in our community who have sacrificed so much for our country.
